York Hearts took another step towards safety in the Tuesday league, with a vital point against title-chasing opposition.
The Jambos took on Word-To-Your-Mother at Huntington, knowing deafeat would leave them staring relegation in the face. But a battling performance saw the maroons earn a 1-1 draw that keeps their survival hopes alive.
Hearts fought well in the first half but fell behind shortly after the break, when a crisp move carved the YH defence open.
WTYM had chances to add to their lead, but at the other end Sammy Outing had a loud penalty appeal turned down.
Tommy Outing kept Hearts in it with an excellent save low to his left, then with three minutes left the maroons levelled, when Sam Outing's corner was headed home by Aitchison, for his first goal in 14 months.
Hearts almost stole it in the dying seconds, when another corner found the head of A Trialist, but the WTYM keeper held his downward effort.
The team was: T. Outing, Aitchison, Trialist, Ong, Beattie, S. Outing.
Aitchison was named Hearts man of the match.
