York Hearts 1-2 Crazyfruitbat.com

York Hearts went down 2-1 to Crazyfruitbat.com last night, after a disappointing performance.
The Jambos used the same starting six as in last week's win over Amber AFC, but were unable to reproduce the same dynamic, battling style.
Goals either side of half time put Crazyfruitbat.com 2-0 ahead, and while Gav "Gandhi" Anderson pulled one back with a well worked goal, Hearts couldn't pull the game back.
The squad was: Tommy O, Gavstro, Ibby, Stampie, Ninja, Bruno, Gandhi, Sam and Callum. Goalscorer Gandhi won the York Hearts Man of the Match award.

Barcelona Tickets

After numerous phone calls and much anxiety, our tickets for Hearts v Barcelona have finally arrived. Those still to pay should contact Ian Warner. If anyone doesn't yet know how they're getting to Edinburgh, give us a shout.

York Hearts 1-0 Amber AFC

York Hearts emulated their Tynecastle namesakes, and spoiled the party for title-winning Amber in their Football Mundial clash last night.
The Jambos produced an excellent team-performance, and recorded a well-deserved 1-0 victory at a damp Huntington.
Gavin Aitchison got the winning goal after ten minutes, intercepting a loose pass and firing under the keeper.
Despite having much of the ball, Amber rarely looked like scoring and Hearts could have added to their lead in the second half.
Table-topping Amber had only lost twice before last night, and a win would have seen them crowned champions.
But the Champagne was put on ice only for another half hour, with Crosbys' defeat to N-Power meaning Amber remain seven points clear at the top, with just two games left.
The victory is undoubtedly York Hearts' best result so far this season, and avenges our 1-0 defeat when the two sides met in April.
The squad was: Tommy O, Gav, Ibby, Stampie, Ninja, Bruno, Other Gav, Sam and Callum. Badger was in charge in Tommy Mac's absence.
Stampie and Bruno shared the York Hearts Man of the Match award.

Coming up at the White Horse...

Four Hearts games have been included in the first next batch of SPL games chosen for live TV coverage by Setanta. Unless you hear otherwise, York Hearts will be meeting in the White Horse in Bootham to watch the following: Monday, Aug 6, Hearts v Hibs (7.45pm) Sunday, Aug 12, Aberdeen v Hearts (2pm) Monday, Sept 3, Motherwell v Hearts (7.45pm) Sunday, Nov 4, Hibs v Hearts (2pm)

York Hearts 0-1 Crosby's

York Hearts were unfortunate to go down by a single goal to promotion-chasing Crosby's on Tuesday night.
We produced an excellent performance against a free-scoring team, and carved out a number of good chances, only to be denied by excellent goal-keeping and bad luck.
Crosby's went ahead midway through the second half, and despite late pressure we were unable to level.
The squad was: Tommy O, Gav, Ibby, Ninja, Stampie, Sam, Bruno, Other Gav, and Calum, with Tommy Mac in charge.
Tommy O was voted YHSC Man of the Match.

York Hearts in the Walwyn

York Hearts FC took part in the fifth annual Keith Walwyn York Fans Tournament on Saturday, at Huntington. Despite having a few players missing, we began brightly with four points and two clean-sheets from our first two games. Thereafter, however, we were plagued by an inability to convert pressure into goals, and ultimately finished a disappointing 5th in group C. That meant we went into the middle of three knock-out competitions, the York Nomads Society Cup. Alas, we were eliminated at the first hurdle, going out 3-2 on penalties to the eventual cup winners Red & Blue B. Despite the results, York Hearts gave a good account of themselves. We'll be back next year.

York Hearts v Crosby's

York Hearts 6-A-Side team's next match is against Crosby's on Tuesday, July 10.
The match kicks off at 8pm, on pitch 3 at Huntington. All spectators are welcome.
In our previous meeting with Crosby's, we suffered our heaviest defeat of the season, going down 4-1.
York Hearts are currently sixth in the 12-team Football Mundial Championship, while Crosby's are in second place behind Amber.

Keith Walwyn Tournament

This Saturday will see York Hearts take part in the Keith Walwyn Tournament at Huntington. The tournament, in memory of the late York City legend, is one of the most prestigious amateur football tournaments in York. We have been drawn in group C, with our first match kicking off at 10.15am. All spectators are welcome.

Miko! Miko! Miko!

The votes have been cast and - after a couple of very careful recounts - the York Hearts Player of the Year has been revealed as Saulius Mikolunias! If ever there was an argument against democracy...

On the buses

York Hearts will be running buses to the following games:
July 28 - Hearts v Barcelona
Aug 18 - Hearts v Gretna
Sep 15 - Hearts v Rangers
Oct 6 - Hearts v Falkirk
Nov 10 - Hearts v Aberdeen
Dec 1 - Hearts v Celtic
Depending on the draw, we may also run a trip to a CIS Cup match.
We are not yet purchasing tickets or collecting payment for any of these trips, except the Barcelona one, but if you want to reserve a place on any of the later buses, feel free to leave a comment here, or email yorkhearts@yahoo.co.uk

St Andrew's Night Celebration

York is not historically the most welcoming place for Scottish exiles. Ancient bylaws ban us from council buildings, and allow locals to shoot us with bows and arrows!

Nevertheless, York Hearts are determined to make our presence felt - and will be doing so with a special St Andrew's Night Celebration on Friday, November 30.

Precise details are currently being drawn up, but it is envisaged that the night will include a hot buffet, a DJ, a quiz, a raffle, an auction and - of course - a large and late bar.

We will be inviting a number of former players along, as well as other Hearts supporters clubs, and it promises to be a great night.

We will be travelling up to Hearts v Celtic the next day, if anyone from outside York wants to make a full weekend of it. Mark it in your diaries now!

Manchester Hearts

York Hearts attended the annual Manchester Hearts Player of the Year Dance in Bolton last month. It was the first such event we have attended, and the club was warmly received. We presented our hosts with a silver salver - then promptly won their quiz, scooping a bottle of gin.
We also met up with a few former players, who expressed a keen interest in coming to any events we host ourselves in future.... watch this space.

Barcelona

The next York Hearts bus trip is on July 28, when Hearts meet Barcelona at Murrayfield. Everyone who has already ordered a ticket through us has been accomodated, and should speak to Ian regarding payment. If you have not ordered and would like to come along, please email yorkhearts@yahoo.co.uk or respond here. If you have ordered a ticket, and can no longer use it, please also let us know. Details of bus costs and departure times will follow shortly.

York Hearts 0-1 Dilemma

Dilemma completed the double over York Hearts 6-A-Side team last night, with a 1-0 to add to their 2-0 victory earlier in the season. Hearts had a depleted squad with several players on holiday, and failed to continue their recent run of good form.
The squad was: T Outing, Martel, Carroll, Aitchison, Dall, McCafferty, Hardie. Dall was voted YHSC man of the match.
