Ten seasons in the spotlight

PAST and present members of York Hearts FC gathered on Friday night to mark the completion of their tenth season at Roko.

About 25 players, club members and WAGs met in Brigantes for an evening of celebrations and awards.

A raft of accolades were handed out in honour of the players' sterling perseverance over the ten seasons (there are about three seasons a year in the Thursday leagues).

The results and performances have, thankfully, rarely been the priority for the guys, who have won 45 and lost 157 of their 178 games and as well as recognising the top scorers and most loyal clubmen, there were also accolades for best dramas, best blunders and best quotes.

York Hearts chairman Ian Warner was master of ceremonies, handing out the awards, while Brigantes manager and York Hearts stalwart Kev Jones provided the accommodation and food.

A huge thank you and well done is due to Alex Bedingham, who organised the event brilliantly, producing a programme of events, arrnaging Champagne and organising all the trophies. Well done Bedo!

Pictured above are members of the "100 club", who have played in more than 100 matches for the team over the past ten seasons.
