There was high drama at Huntington last night, as York Hearts' Tuesday-night team won their first game in four months.
Sam Outing got the only goal as the makeshift Jambos side saw off Arrogant FC in a tempestuous match.
A fairly even first half ended goalless, but Sam struck midway through the second, finding the net via the post, only for the ball to bounce back into play via the other post. Hearts protested furiously when the referee waved play on, but after consulting some onlookers, he gave the goal, prompting an angry response in turn from Arrogant.
Tempers then flared, with a few meaty challenges going in, but Hearts held strong. Sam finished the game by sending an almighty clearance out of play, over the fence, out of Huntington, over the outer ring road, out of Yorkshire and somewhere towards Newcastle, prompting more dummy-spitting from their downbeat opponents.
Despite the goal and that piece of amusing gamesmanship by Sam, Gav got the man of the match award.
