York Hearts Supporters Club enjoyed arguably its greatest day on Sunday, as members took in the momentous Scottish Cup victory over city rivals H*bs at Easter Road.
The minibus left York before dawn to make the long drive to Easter Road, but the early start was well worth it, as goals from Christian Nade and Gary Glen sent Hearts into the 5th round, and consigned the wee team to a 108th consecutive year of cup heart-ache.
It was YHSC's biggest trip since the CIS Cup semi-final last January, while several other members gathered in the White Horse to watch the game on TV.
The trip itself was a roaring success. Brian Dall was driver for the day, and we reached Edinburgh in good time with a good sing-song on the way, our spirits dampened only by the border butty van being closed.
After a pre-match chippy on Easter Road, we took our seats among the vociferous Hearts support. After a fairly even first 30 minutes, the game swung in Hearts' favour. H*bs striker Steven Fletcher was red-carded for a two-footed lunge at Christophe Berra, and when Nade gave Hearts the lead before half-time the game was never in doubt. Hearts coasted through the second half, with Gary Glen making it 2-0 in injury time.
If the bus had been buoyant going north it was euphoric on the return, with the singing stopping only briefly, when our text-message was read out on Five Live's 606 phone-in.
Some pictures from the trip can be seen HERE - feel free to add your comments to the photos
Hearts have been drawn at home to Falkirk in the next round. That will be our next bus trip.
