York Hearts Tuesday night team was left ruing two golden chances as they fell to a second consecutive defeat at the hand of Football Mundial debutants 'The Badgers'. In an open game, YH took the lead after 5 minutes, and the first real chance of the game, when Ong made good ground down the right and cut back a superb ball for Sammy Outing to cooly slot the ball into the top corner of the net from 10 yards out. The badgers scored either side of half time, beating returning long-term injury victim Rich with two well taken goals, but remained on the back-foot for many periods of the game. A neat flick from Catanach put the speedy midfielder in clear space in the opposition half and presented him with a great chance to equalise but he sliced his shot wide of the near post. With 30 seconds remaining the Jambos were given a lifeline when the 1st-timer referee awarded YH with the most controversial of penalties; The defender received the ball back from the keeper, immediatly after passing the ball back, which by the book is a direct free-kick, however, taking advantage of the fact neither oppostion nor referee had been involved at Huntington before the ever worked-up trio of Carroll, Outing and Ong falsely argued that a penalty is given in such situations and the official promptly pointed to the spot, much to the disgust of several Badgers. Sammy picked up the ball, confident of retaining his 100% penalty record, and placed it on the spot and took his run up, the goalie was sent the wrong way but a stray foot flicked the ball back out was cleared by a defender, the YH heads went down and the seconds ran out - The Tuesday Jambos will feel like tonight was very possibly three points wasted.
Sammy and Barclay claimed joint man of the match and the squad was: Rich, Carroll, Beattie, Outing S, Catanach and Ong.

"Blackjacks" in 23 Goal Thriller
Thursday 24th April, Clifton Moor, York. PlayFootball 7-a-Side League. York Hearts FC v Flexi. A night to remember.
YHFC took on the PlayFootball league leaders, Flexi, on the back of a 16-2 defeat at the hands of Stillington the previous week and were determined to restore some pride in the jerseys. What unfolded throughout the 1 hour of football played was unforgetable.
Unfortunately, unforgetable for all the wrong reasons. Despite a defensive masterplan of everyone behind the ball and 2 stunning goals from MoM Gandhi, YHFC were unable to stem the tide and took a jolly rogering from what has to have been the most professional outfit the team has played thus far. In fact, had it not been for some heroics in goal from Gavin "I've only got 6 fingers left" Aitchison, the number of goals could have doubled the 21 conceded.
However, it is not all doom and gloom, as the team fought hard and worked tirelessly and never gave up hope, with several outstanding performances on show. To have lost against a team who had previously scored 74 goals in 4 matches was no disgrace and the team walked off the pitch at the end of the match still in good spirits and looking forward to next weeks match knowing that the 2 hardest games in the league are over for the moment.
On a parting note I would like to borrow a phrase from the notice in the dressing rooms - "Management Cannot Be Held Responsible For Any Loss"
Squad: Aitchison, Carroll, Beattie, Jones, Ong, Outing, Phenomenon, Anderson and Hardie
MoM: Anderson

Good Start Continues
York Hearts Tuesday night team last night battle out a tough 0-0 draw with promotion hopefuls Dilemma Artworks at Huntington. It was to some degree a makeshift team, as defensive rock Steve Carroll missed out through work, meaning Sammy Outing made the surprising change to centre-back, with Gav Anderson turning out as the lone striker in front of YH regular Barclay Ong and, after impressive appearances off the bench, first time starter Darren 'Mad Daz' Catanach in the middle. The York JTs started the game in great fashion, stringing together an 8-pass move that resulted in a half chance for Anderson. The first half was a gritty midfield battle that resulted in very few chances for either team, though the second half started in more open fashion when Dilemma tested Goalie Tommy O for the first time. Half-time Substitute Martin Anderson, older brother of Gav, showed promise with some good touches in the middle, however YH couldn't break the deadlock. Dilemma went up in the gears and caught the Hearts on the break only for Beattie to provide a top-class tackle at the back Minutes later TommyO was called upon again and produced the save of the game to keep our clean sheet alive. A 50 yard ball from Outing snr fell at Ong's feet with the goal gaping only for the ball to skid agonisingly off the wet Huntington surface and out of play. Both teams played out the remaining minute or two and were both happy with the point afterwards.
The point means YHFC Tues night team remain unbeaten this season and have only conceded one goal so far. This also means that YHFC Tues and Thurs combined are on a run of 5 unbeaten and should they not lose tomorrow to Stillington FC, they will have equalled the record unbeaten run of 6 games set between 20/02 and 27/03 last year.
The Squad on Tuesday night was: Tommy Outing, Sammy Outing, Callum Beattie, Darren Catanach, Barclay Onlg, Gavin Anderson and Martin Anderson.
Man of the Match was tied between Sammy and Darren.

Win for York Hearts FC
York Hearts FC followed up last weeks victory with another win in the PlayFootball league last night at Clifton Moor over Jetstream.
In a somewhat niggly and bruising encounter the Jambos managed to keep their cool and hold on to win by the odd goal in 7. Despite losing a goal after just 10 seconds of play, YHFC fought back admirably and controlled the remainder of the first half with some breathtaking passing movements and quality finishing. An equalising goal after 3 mins from Ong started the comeback and the match may have turned in the 8th minute when T Outing saved a somewhat dubiously awarded penalty. 3 more goals in quick succession from Phenomenon, S Outing and Dall put the Jambos into a 4 goal to 1 lead. The loss of a goal in the 23rd minute came just as Jetstream had a player Blue Carded for an assault on Ong but despite being a man to the good YHFC went in at Half Time with only the 2 goal advantage.
The second half was a much less thrilling affair, however, YHFC manged to control the match and work hard extremely hard defensively when put under some late pressure. Jetstream did manage to score another with 10 minutes of the match remaining but YHFC stood firm and managed to hold on until the final whistle.
A quite magnificent result and a deserved 3 pts.
Squad: T Outing, Dall, Carroll, Ong, Phenomenon, Bruno, S Outing, Anderson, Jones
MoM's: Carroll and Dall (joint award)

YHFC Jollifications
As this evening's match has an earlier than normal KO (6pm), it has been decided that compulsory attendence in the White Horse for all team players and followers be put into effect after the match. Club sponsor and Landlord, Dan Murphy (28), will be putting on some sandwiches for the gathering and there should be plenty for all as Gav "Gavstro" Aitchison (36) will be unable to attend the event until later that evening due to work commitments. Continuing on the food related theme, there will be the weekly trip to the fine local eating establishment (Tandoori "no immigrants as they have all been arrested" Nights) once the beer drinking ceases in the Horse. That is, of course, assuming they have staff available to serve and cook.
The jollifications are expected to start around 7.30 - 7.45 once the team arrive back from the match.
Alex "Furry Phenomenon" Bedingham (16) has already named the event as "No-one Leaves Until Someone Dies" so make sure you all have your drinking boots on.

Tonight's Match
YHFC will play Jetstream in the PlayFootball league this evening at Clifton Moor. Kick Off is 6pm. Would all players please note that the changing facilities are not going to be ready for this evening. All supporters welcome.
7-a-side Confusion
York Hearts FC's fixture in last Thursday's Playfootball league descended into farce when their scheduled league match against Network Rail was called off. A substitute team, York Goochers, were brought in as last minute replacements thus turning Thursday's match into a meaningless friendly. Despite that, an outstanding all round team performance took YHFC to a 5-4 victory in what has been described as the best performance of the season. No points for that win but the good news was that an 8-0 victory and 3 pts were awarded to YHFC for the league fixture. 2 wins in 1 evening certainly has lifted spirits at the club and has prompted a team building exercise at the White Horse this very evening (details to follow in separate post).
