Penalty Drama in YH Defeat.

York Hearts Tuesday night team was left ruing two golden chances as they fell to a second consecutive defeat at the hand of Football Mundial debutants 'The Badgers'. In an open game, YH took the lead after 5 minutes, and the first real chance of the game, when Ong made good ground down the right and cut back a superb ball for Sammy Outing to cooly slot the ball into the top corner of the net from 10 yards out. The badgers scored either side of half time, beating returning long-term injury victim Rich with two well taken goals, but remained on the back-foot for many periods of the game. A neat flick from Catanach put the speedy midfielder in clear space in the opposition half and presented him with a great chance to equalise but he sliced his shot wide of the near post. With 30 seconds remaining the Jambos were given a lifeline when the 1st-timer referee awarded YH with the most controversial of penalties; The defender received the ball back from the keeper, immediatly after passing the ball back, which by the book is a direct free-kick, however, taking advantage of the fact neither oppostion nor referee had been involved at Huntington before the ever worked-up trio of Carroll, Outing and Ong falsely argued that a penalty is given in such situations and the official promptly pointed to the spot, much to the disgust of several Badgers. Sammy picked up the ball, confident of retaining his 100% penalty record, and placed it on the spot and took his run up, the goalie was sent the wrong way but a stray foot flicked the ball back out was cleared by a defender, the YH heads went down and the seconds ran out - The Tuesday Jambos will feel like tonight was very possibly three points wasted.
Sammy and Barclay claimed joint man of the match and the squad was: Rich, Carroll, Beattie, Outing S, Catanach and Ong.

not wiity but straight to the point. haha

nice bit of sportsmanship there, telling the ref and players the wrong rules cos they hadn't played before. lol. if its same ref, we do it next week but have a rule book in hand, that'll confuse him

In fairness, none of us who missed a penalty then carved up the man of the match vote in their favour!! :)
