The New Season Begins

York Hearts FC kicked off the new season on Tuesday night with a solid 1-1 draw against NPower in The York Tuesday 6 a Side Football League. Following a respectable mid table finish in the Championship last season, YHFC were looking to get off to a flying start and looked like doing so until floored by a last minute equaliser.

Despite losing several players through hospitalisation, injury and work commitments, a squad of 8 on Tuesday night consisting of; Tommy O, Stampie, Calum, Ninja, Gandhi, Sammy O, McScarfless and Barclay put in an extremely solid performance with some fluent passing and fine attempts on goal.

Playing against a team who finished with 4 pts less last season, YHFC looked to have the full 3 pts in the bag after Sammy O opened the scoring midway through the first half with a measured finish following some neat build up play. With typical hard work and solid defending a winning start to the season was on the cards until NPower hit back with 1 minute of play remaining.

Although disappointed to drop a couple of points the coaching duo of Badger and Ibby were delighted by the performance. "Every single player put in a lot of hard work and effort tonight and there were more positives than negatives to be had. We can look forward with some confidence to the remainder of the season with commitment like that" reflected coach Ibby.

Man Of The Match went to Stampie who showed admirable leadership qualities on the field and turned in an outstanding performance all round.

Stirling Albion v Hearts

Hearts have been drawn away to Stirling Albion in the second round of the CIS Cup. If anyone intends travelling, please reply to this post.

York Hearts 0-0 Elvington Floorcraft

York Hearts completed their first league season in the Football Mundial Tuesday Championship with a goal-less draw against Elvington Floorcraft.
The result means Hearts finish a respectable 6th in the table.
A depleted Jambos side took a while to get going, with Sunday's 11-A-Side exertions against the White Horse clearly taking an effect.
A handful of half chances were the best Hearts could offer in the first half, and although the maroons upped the pace in the final ten minutes, the winner proved elusive.
The Hearts squad was: Tommy O, Gavstro, Ibby, Stampie, Ninja, Sam, Calum, Mark.
Tommy O won the YHSC Man of the Match award, in no small part thanks to one wonder save early in the second half.

York Hearts 1-0 Team Sunshine

THE dream of cup glory remains alive for York Hearts, after a stirring victory over Premiership opposition last night.
A goal by Gav “Gandhi” Anderson gave the giant-killing Jambos a 1-0 win over Team Sunshine, to storm into finals night in the Football Mundial Cup.
The maroons were the better side throughout, and could easily have increased to their lead in the closing stages.
Team Sunshine, in their Argentina-style strips, were restricted to a handful of speculative efforts, and looked more like prima-donnas than Maradonas. Tommy O in the Hearts goal had only one real save to make.
After last week’s disappointing defeat to Crazyfruitbat.com, Hearts were determined to bounce back. They hassled and harried their opponents from the off, and carved open the defence with some excellent passing moves. Only a combination of bad luck in front of goal, and good defending by Sunshine kept the Jambos at bay.
The second half brought more of the same. Aitchison, Burnett, and Outing senior all had chances, but it was Gandhi who made the breakthrough. With seven minutes remaining, he latched on to a through ball and scuffed it past the keeper, sparking scenes of jubilation among the maroon hordes.
Sunshine rallied, desperately chasing the equaliser that would have taken them through at Hearts’ expense. But Dall, Carroll and Ninja stood firm.
As the minutes ticked by, Hearts picked Sunshine off on the break several times, only to see a flurry of efforts fly narrowly wide.
The squad was: Tommy O, Gavstro, Ibby, Stampie, Sam, Bruno, Calum, Ninja, Gandhi. Badger was in charge, making it six games unbeaten.
Bruno won the York Hearts Man of the Match vote.
