Good Start Continues

York Hearts Tuesday night team last night battle out a tough 0-0 draw with promotion hopefuls Dilemma Artworks at Huntington. It was to some degree a makeshift team, as defensive rock Steve Carroll missed out through work, meaning Sammy Outing made the surprising change to centre-back, with Gav Anderson turning out as the lone striker in front of YH regular Barclay Ong and, after impressive appearances off the bench, first time starter Darren 'Mad Daz' Catanach in the middle. The York JTs started the game in great fashion, stringing together an 8-pass move that resulted in a half chance for Anderson. The first half was a gritty midfield battle that resulted in very few chances for either team, though the second half started in more open fashion when Dilemma tested Goalie Tommy O for the first time. Half-time Substitute Martin Anderson, older brother of Gav, showed promise with some good touches in the middle, however YH couldn't break the deadlock. Dilemma went up in the gears and caught the Hearts on the break only for Beattie to provide a top-class tackle at the back Minutes later TommyO was called upon again and produced the save of the game to keep our clean sheet alive. A 50 yard ball from Outing snr fell at Ong's feet with the goal gaping only for the ball to skid agonisingly off the wet Huntington surface and out of play. Both teams played out the remaining minute or two and were both happy with the point afterwards.
The point means YHFC Tues night team remain unbeaten this season and have only conceded one goal so far. This also means that YHFC Tues and Thurs combined are on a run of 5 unbeaten and should they not lose tomorrow to Stillington FC, they will have equalled the record unbeaten run of 6 games set between 20/02 and 27/03 last year.
The Squad on Tuesday night was: Tommy Outing, Sammy Outing, Callum Beattie, Darren Catanach, Barclay Onlg, Gavin Anderson and Martin Anderson.
Man of the Match was tied between Sammy and Darren.
