Running for Hearts

York Hearts' big charity run is less than two months away folks!
The guys and gals have been putting in hours of training, ahead of running 10k in October for Cancer Research.
There's still time to sponsor them - if every York Hearts member chipped in even a few quid, it would go a long way to helping us hit our target.

Rangers 2-0 Hearts

Two from York Hearts made the long trip north to Ibrox yesterday, for Hearts' SPL meeting with Rangers.
Sam and Gav headed up by road in high spirits, but returned disappointed after slack defending and lousy refereeing combined to give Rangers a 2-0 win.
The Jambos played well and could well have got a point at least, had it not been for some stupid indiscipline by Miko and a strong Hearts penalty claim being turned down moments before Rangers' late second goal.
The trip itself went relatively smoothly - aside from Gav tripping up a toddler in a service station, losing the car in a car-park, and having to take drastic evasive action to avoid a nutter on the A59 anyway.
The next official trip is on September 20 when Hearts host Inverness Caledonian Thistle, although if people are wanting to go to games before then, drop us a line and we may be able to help coordinate travel.

It's back...

The date has been set for the Second York Hearts St Andrew's Night Celebration.
This year's bash will take place on Friday 28 November, at the Park Inn Hotel in the city centre.
Tickets are available now, priced at £25 a head (same price as last year).

Viceroy "too hot" for Jambos

York Hearts went down 9-5 to Viceroy at The Roko Stadium on Thursday night. Like the curry enjoyed by a few "die hearts" later, Viceroy were just too hot for the Hearts side to handle. 5-1 down at half time was a fair reflection and a 4-4 second half performance gave us a bit of pride back which was well deserved. Although there were no outstanding performances (the MOM award got votes for two players that were not playing) Bruno and Barcs shared the award for their determined performances. The team was, Rich Jono, Sam, Calum, Ninja, Ghandi, Barcs, Bruno, Ibby, Gavstro and Andy the ringer. No forfiet was offered for last week so we had a boring night in HQ. Next week we all have to wear head decoration for the match as well as the pub. Hope to see some interesting designs gents!!!!

Hearts v Hull in The White Horse

Dan has kindly agreed to show Hearts take on the mighty Premier League side Hull City in The White Horse on Sunday, kick off 2.00pm. One or two may be there for the odd beer or 7 before kick off and there is talk of possibly a post match drink as well.
All are welcome, bring your friends (if you have any) and lets cheer on the Jambos and our new mesiah " Shabba". We can also toast the fact that the wee team are out of Europe already!!!!

Jambos caught sleeping

York Hearts FC looked like they forgot to get out of bed last night(in more ways than one). After a frantic start and a screamer from Steve Carroll, with his left foot, yes his LEFT foot, we fell asleep and were soon 5-1 behind as Jetscreen took control on a rainswept evening at the Roko Stadium. It wasn,t a bad performance by the Jambos, they were beaten by a better team who were for most of the game first to the ball and had more of the luck, two deflected own goals didn,t help the moral of the team. The other scorers were Bedo with two and Ghandi and the man of the match was Steve (Stampy) Carroll.
Back in the White Horse, the regulars did another double take as the team embraced the forfiet set last week by Ghandi and walked in waring their pyjamas. Kev Jones looked rather fetching in his gingam pj top and pink arse length dressing gown and Calum managed to fit into his original 7-8 year olds with a front comfort pocket. Watch this space for next weeks forfiet, Stampy is taking his time deciding what to call. This could be messy!!!!

York Hearts FC get beer "goggles"

Thursday night 7,s hauled themselves up to fourth in the table with a convincing 13-5 thrashing of Deportevo-lack-of-talent at the Roko Stadium on Thursday. With there opponents starting with only 5 players, YHFC failed to take advantage in the early stages and were pegged back by Deportivo on a few occasions before stamping their authority on the game. The scoreline could have been far more impressive but for some wayward finnishing from all positions on the pitch, we must have had 70 shots on goal!!! Sammy Outing led the line with 4 goals, Daddy Bedo pitched in with another 4 including a rasping volly set up by Kev Jones after a great move, Ghandi scored 2, Stampy and Bruno 1 each and an own goal that Ghandi tried to claim even though he was miles away from the ball!!! Ghandi was the Man Of The Match.
Back at the White Horse, the weekly forfiet was to be waring singlets and swimming goggles which was a sight for some sore eyes as the regulars thought we had lost our marbles. God help them next week when we have to ware pyjamas for our post match drink and curry.

A much more "polished" performance

York Hearts FC turned dissapointment into joy last night when Burton Lane Phoenix, obviously worried about getting a spanking, failed to turn up. "Fortunately" Polska FC having just finnished a game, sportingly agreed to play us so Ibby,s thoughts of an early beer were dashed!!! Having been severely beaten last week by the Pols, not being humiliated was high on the agenda but we need not have worried. YHFC took the game by the scruff of the neck early on and cruised into a 2-0 lead. Some great passing, high quality defending and boundless energy were the order of the day. (Next week lads its all down the Horse for three pints and cheesy chips before the game) Half time saw the Pols with a 4-3 lead as they got the measure of a fighting Hearts team, only stunning finnishing giving them the edge. Tired legs in the second half kept going, the boys did us proud and the game ended with an 8-3 defeat, a great result against a very good team. There were 9 very good performances out there but the MOM award went to "cheesy chips" Ghandi.
Back at HQ, the forfiet was to bring a bucket of sand and a spade!!!!!!!! 3 fines were collected and if there was a prize for the best, then Sammy Outing would have won it hands down. Dont forget next weeks as decided by Ghandi, you have to wear a singlet (vest type thing) and swimming goggles to the pub.
