No Lack of Talent From The Hearts.

York Hearts last night won after a long six month losing streak was ended with a hard-fought 4-3 win against fellow wooden spoon contenders Deportivo Lack-of-Talent. This was the 10th match success that the Thursday Hearts have experienced at roko, though probably the most satisfying - and is the first time that the Tues and Thurs team have won in the same calender week for a whopping 339 days!!!

In a tense opening quarter, chances were far and few between, with both team clearly being over cautious in their quest for vital points. A header from Damo test The DLT keeper after 10 minutes and Sammy Outing missed a good opportunity after a optimistic flick went straight in to the goalies hands. Things started to open up and some neat passing from YH started to trouble DLT, another header, this time off Bedo, crashed into the side netting, but there was another stort for their next chance. A well time through ball from Stevie Carroll enabled Dave to turn and put the ball into the path of Kev who from close range got in front of the defender to smash it into the roof of the net. More similar play passed for the remainder of the half, with DLT equalising against the run of play, in what was their only real chance of the opening half.

An animated team-talk from Ibby at half-time fired the Jambos up even more as they pushed for a winner, DLT however had the best of the opening second half exchanges and twice came close only to be thwarted by the impressive Dall in the YH goal. Bedo and Dame twice came close at but were off the mark on both occasions. after 40 minutes though, Outing collected a neat pass from Bedo to slam into the far corner with his right foot. Chances for both teams began to come more frequently with Damo again coming close whilst getting clattered by the DLT left back. A mazy run down the left from Ninja gave Damo a great chance to give the Hearts a 2 goal cushion and that opportunity was taken with a low drive into the bottom corner leaving the onlooking goalkeeper helpless. York Hearts however, don't do things the simple way and, as shown last week, have thrown games away. The worst must have been feared when DLT pulled one back, with an almost replica of Damo's earlier goal at the other end, coming 11 minutes from time. A final push was needed and Dave responded with a charge down the centre a a low drive, putting the J.T's 4-2 up, with 7 minutes to go defending was now a priority, 7 men behind the ball at times could not stop DLT pulling yet another goal back, but YH weren't done just yet, an over-the-top clearance from Bedingham was controlled by Damo who nudged on a delicate header to the oncoming Outing who's 15-yard screamer rattled the bar and landed on the line, half-hearted appeals were waved away by the referee, who insisted the ball didn't cross the line, and in truth he was probably correct. A blatant penalty kick was turned down seconds later as the DLT keeper came 3 yards out of his 'D' to attempt a charge-down, however, this was unbelievably missed again by the ref. Some time-wasting tactics were used by the Hearts, notably a defensive clearance by Outing who put the ball into orbit following a block by Stampie on the edge of the YH area. DLT tried and tried again to find the equaliser, to no avail and the ref then blew his whistle to start the York Hearts party and put an end to the 6 months of hurt -

York Hearts 4 - 3 Deportivo Lack of Talent.

Team: Dall, Hardie, Carroll, Mallen, Stringer, Outing, Bedingham and Jones.

M.O.M: Bedingham.

St Andrews Night Dance Fixture Delight

This years St Andrews Night Dance will be held in York (venue to be determined) on Friday 27th November.
For the first time ever, the Fixture List has been kind to those who normally have to head off to Tynecastle the following morning. The previous dances have all seen an early morning dash to the Bus or Train for those attending the 12.30 KO's that day. The previous evenings revelries have caused one or two members to miss their transport. No such problems this year. The SPL administrators have taken pity on those with hangovers and have scheduled an away trip to Rugby Park for the 28th.
Happy days indeed for those wishing to have more than a few at the do.
Further details on the dance will follow in due course.

The 2009/10 Fixtures were released this morning with Hearts opener to be played at Tannadice against Dundee United on August 15.

It is likely that the Supporters Club official trips this season will revolve around European games, however, more details of these trips will be posted here after the next Monthly Committee Meeting which will be held on July 5th.

Jambos Floor Elvington.

York Hearts continued their unbeaten start to the new Tuesday season with a hard-fought victory over former league winners Elvington Floorcraft.
Jez returned between the sticks with Daz making his return from Uni. Sam Harrison, Barclay, Cal & Sam Outing retained their places and Dave Warner made his debut for the maroons. Hearts had all the play in the opening stanza, keeping the ball well and forcing six corners, Harrison unlucky on two occasions and Outing forcing a fine save with a volley from 10 yards.
Sam.H, made it third time lucky on 11 minutes when a long-range throw from Jez was chested down and turned on the half volley, and placed in the far corner. Elvington, clearly rattled by the goal picked up their game, and responded almost immediately with the simplest of goals after a man was left spare at the back.
The second half began with Floorcraft having the vast majority of possession, but nothing else was getting past the ever reliable Small in the YH goal. Cal continued his player of last season form with another solid performance at the back and sub Daz got his foot in at crucial points several times. With E.F looking for the winner, YH were twice unlucky on the break, with Barclay's long-range dipping effort inches wide and Harrison's shot being blocked at the last minute.
The JTs thought took their chance with 4 minutes remaining as good build up play resulted in Outing having time to pick his spot before rifling into the far corner from the right. Elvington pressed but the Hearts defence stood firm, Jez making another crucial save. One final break saw Sam.O shoot speculatively from 20yards on the half volley but the shot was off the mark, but that was all that was needed as Nige blew his whistle and ended the game.

York Hearts have now only lost one of their last nine league games, winning 5 and drawing 3, scoring 17 goals and conceding only 7, and are now 3rd in the league with a game in hand. Next week the Hearts face bottom of the table Clive Owen & Co in an 8pm kick-off, all welcome as normal.
Man of the match tonight - Sam Harrison.

YHFC 7s Still Seeking Glory

York Hearts FC Thursday 7s team will be given their best chance yet to end their dismal 23-game losing streak when they face fellow PlayFootball strugglers Deportivo Lack-Of-Talent at the Roko Arena this Thursday (6.30pm).

After last weeks heartbreak at the hands of old foes Jet Screen, the Jambo's will be looking to take their first points since December 2008 and avoid making ths same mistakes that saw them go down 6-5 after blowing an impressive 3-1 lead going into the break. Coincidentally, Deportivo were the victims the last time YH tasted sucess, a staggering 182 days ago (!) , could lightning strke twice?
