York Hearts Run the Cancer Research 10k

On Sunday October 12th 2008, ten members of the York Hearts Supporters Club, a gathering of the most hazardous and unathletic individuals you could ever hope to meet, will take on the gruelling multi-terrain 10k course in the shadows of Castle Howard.
Brian Dall, Gavin Anderson, Nick Nicholson, Barclay Ong, Dan Murphy, Jill Anderson, Kev Jones, Alex Bedingham, Adam Burnett and Ian Warner will sacrifice their love of fine ale, Indian Cusine and all-day Public House sessions to undergo three solid months of high-intensity training. Well, the odd curry & Kaltenburg wouldn't hurt! In all seriousness, the members taking part are all particularly unseasoned in the running department and therefore a monumental effort will be required from all to complete such a challenge, so please support this great cause today. Donations can be made through Justgiving and it is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor us: Cancer Research UK gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation. Please make any donations through the link to the site below.

Ringo-ing, Ringo-ing, Ringone

Internet photo firm Ringo is shutting down, which means our picture albums will be unavailable after next Monday. We'll hopefully find somewhere new for them soon, but there'll be a lull in the meantime. We may resort to Facebook, although we realise that means they won't be accessible to everyone, which isn't ideal. Flickr is another option. If anyone has any other ideas, please let us know.

Belfast

Anyone planning to go to Belfast on July 14 to watch Glentoran v Hearts? Cheap flights still available if so.

On the buses...

We've earmarked the following fixtures for our first few trips of season 2008/09. Please let us know which, if any, you would like to go to. Apart from the Motherwell game in August, all of these are currently subject to change for TV:

Aug 9: Hearts v Motherwell
Sep 20: Hearts v Inverness Caledonian Thistle
Oct 4: Hearts v Kilmarnock
Nov 1: Hearts v Celtic

Depending on numbers, we may go by train or road. We're likely to have to charge more on the road now, as the rising cost of fuel means £15 a head is no longer likely to cover our costs.

Hearts overpowered

York Hearts were crushed 4-1 by n-Power in the Tuesday Championship at Huntington last night.
In a thoroughly disappointing performance, the Jambos were overrun and outfought by the electrical firm, leaving them anchored to the foot of the table.
Hearts got off to a bad start, conceding two early goals. Darren Catanach pulled one back before half time, following a good move, but despite a handful of half-chances Hearts failed to draw level. Barclay Ong was sin-binned for mouthing off in the second half, and n-Power made the extra man count, scoring another two goals.
The squad was: T. Outing, Aitchison, Carroll, Catanach, M. Anderson, Ong, S. Outing. All seven players got one Man of the Match vote.
The Thursday team begin their new season tomorrow night, against Viceroy at Clifton Moor. Kick off is 6pm.

June 19th - Update

York Hearts complete their PlayFootball campaign on Thursday 19th June when they entertain MDFC on the hallowed turf of Clifton Moor. Having endured a gruelling FOURTEEN game season, it would be rude not to have a royal session afterwards, and that's just what we're proposing here....

With the bottom-of-the-table clash ending at 8pm, it is expected that festivities will commence in HQ; The White Horse Public House of Bootham.

After many intoxicating liquids are sank and the awards for Player Of The Year and Top Goalcorer are presented, the circus will embark to the Bombay Spice, our new Indian Resturant of choice.

To end in the night in spectacular style, there is only one venue in the fair City of York with enough glamour, prestige and colossal appeal to host such an occasion; The Willow Cantonese Resturant.

Rules of the Evening;

1) Attendance is compulsory to all YHFC members.

2) You WILL be there, no excuses will be accepted.and most importantly...

3) NO-ONE LEAVES 'TIL SOMEONE DIES!

Belfast and Germany

Hearts are playing Glentoran in Belfast on Monday 14 July in a friendly. We're then likely to have a game away to Dunfermline on July 16 or 17, followed by a trip to Germany. HMFC have yet to confirm the fixtures over there, but German media say we're playing Kaiserslautern on Friday 25, followed by Weken Wiesbaden (near Frankfurt) on Tuesday 29.

We also have a home friendly against Coventry pencilled in (prob Aug 2)

Anybody fancy any of those games?

The SPL season starts on August 9, with fixtures due to be announced next Monday (June 16).

On the agenda...

There will be a committee meeting next Wednesday evening (June 11). If anyone wants anything raised or discussed, feel free to let Ian, Gav, Brian or Sam know using the contact details at the foot of this page.

The 2008 annual report and St Andrew's Night bash will be the main items for discussion.

Boot camp for goal-shy Jambos...

THERE will be an informal kick-about/training session for York Hearts players at Little Knavesmire on Saturday morning, from 10am until noon.
All welcome - bring your shooting boots.

Jambos Downhearted

York Hearts remain rooted to the bottom of the Football Mundial Championship, following a 1-0 defeat by Lifetime Rovers at Huntington on Tuesday.
The Jambos succumbed to a break away goal with just four minutes left, leaving them still chasing their first win of the season.
It was a worryingly familiar story for the maroons who, while conceding just nine goals in nine games, have scored a paltry two.
Sam Outing had Hearts' best chance of the game, but fired wide. Then in the last move of the game, Aitchison failed to connect with an Outing cutback.
By then though, the damage had been done. After clipping the bar with a speculative shot in the first half, Rovers seized their chance late on, breaking through the Hearts backline and firing past Rich in goals.
The squad was: Johnston, Aitchison, Beattie, Catanach, S. Outing, Ong, Burnett.
Burnett was named Hearts man of the match.

The Thursday team, which is currently 6th in their 8-team league, take on title-chasing Stillington tonight, looking to avenge 16-2 and 9-6 defeats earlier in the season. All spectators welcome.
