Another trip, another win

FOUR York Jambos made the trip north to Tynecastle, for Hearts' SPL clash with Dundee Utd at the weekend.
Ian Warner and Terence Tate were joined by new members Gill Maskell and Bruce Bottomley, and were treated to a badly-needed Hearts win, thanks to Larryea Kingston's first-half strike.
The result keeps the Jambos in with a chance of making the top-six... and also maintains York Hearts' excellent record this season.
Our official club trips to Tynecastle this season have now yielded 16 points from a possible 18 - a remarkable return given how dire Hearts have been in most other games.
The next trip will be announced once the post-split fixtures are announced.

Another season begins...

York Hearts begin the new Football Mundial season tomorrow night, with a clash against N-Power at Huntington. Kick off is 8pm. After an uncomfortable relegation battle last season, the maroons will be looking to challenge at the top end of the league this time round.
On Thursday, the Jambos are then in action in the PlayFootball Championship once again. Our opponents are not yet known, but kick off is 9pm.
Can all players please advise whether they're available for either or both games.

Hearts lose again

York Hearts went down 8-2 against Viceroy FC, as their losing start to the PlayFootball season continued.
Hearts were outfought in the first half, and only good goalkeeping by Dall kept the first-half deficit to 3-0. Although Hearts found the net twice in the second half, Viceroy proved far more clinical, and ran out fairly comfortable winners.
Bedo and Barclay got Hearts' goals in a match that also saw both goalkeepers save a penalty. Ibby won the Hearts man of the match vote; Warner was injured in the warm-up; and the game also saw a debut for new signing "Razor" Radek.
The Hearts squad was: Dall, Aitchison, Carroll, Beattie, Ong, Warner, Bedingham, Jones, Radek.

Hearts 3-5 Deportivo

York Hearts went down 5-3 to Deportivo lack-of-talent in their opening game of the PlayFootball season last night.
The Jambos went behind early on when a stray rebound from the back boards left Aitchison stranded, but Outing levelled the score midway through the first half.
Hearts had several chances to take the lead, but a combination of poor finishing and good goalkeeping kept them at bay, and two goals in quick succession at the other end meant the maroons trailed 3-1 at the break.
The Jambos took the game to their opponents in the second half, and got an early goal to cut the deficit. But Deportivo regained the two-goal cushion soon after, and although Hearts pulled another one back, Deportivo made the game safe with a fifth late on.
Outing (2) and Bedo got Hearts' goals. Callum Beattie was Hearts man of the match.
The squad was: Aitchison, Dall, Warner, Beattie, Outing, Bedingham, Ong, Burnett.

Bittersweet Finale For York's Jambos

The Football Mundial season came to an end for YHFC on Tuesday night and it turned out to be a bittersweet finale for the Jambos.
In the opening game YH went down by a single goal in a close encounter with Dilemma Artworks. YH had some good chances but the strong winds made it hard for either side to play any real football and on the night Dilemma took their chance better and came away with the win. The victory did little for them as their goal difference meant neither side progressed to the last 16.

In the second game, and the Jambos' final of the season, the winds died down slightly and YH were allowed to play some more attractive football against 3rd place FC Gash. Chances came for Outing, Ong and Burnett before Bedingham's sweeping drive opened the scoring towards the end of the first half. Gash never really got into the game and were outplayed and out-muscled by a more confident side, with further clever footwork resulting in another chance each for Outing and Burnett, before debutant Kev Jones forced a stunning save from the FCG 'keeper minutes before the full-time whistle.

Man of the Match went to Ibby Dall in the opener and was shared between Steve Carroll and Bedo in the second. York Hearts finished seventh in the Championship, which this year was won by Elvington Floorcraft and also saw CrazyFruitbat promoted. At the other end Npower and Browns of York drop a tier and joining York Hearts next season will be Clive Owen & Co and Crosby's from the Premiership and White Magic and Leeroy Rovers from League One.

The Squad on Tuesday night was: Dall, Carroll, Outing, Bedingham, Burnett, Beattie, Ong and Jones, with Aldas Ninjauskas issuing instructions from the touchline in Badger's absence.

Double-Header Tonight For YHFC

York Hearts have an end of season double-header tonight at Huntington. At 9pm YH take on Championship rivals Dilemma Artworks in their final Group G game in the Football Mundial Cup, both sides needing a win by three goals to stand a chance of qualifying for the last 16 and a tie against Premiership outfit Team Sunshine.
Our second match of the evening follows immediately at 9.30pm and sees YH take to the field against 3rd place FC Gash in both sides final Championship game of the season, the Jambos' place in the middle tier of Tuesday night football was confirmed last week after a defeat for N Power meant they will join Browns of York in League One next season.
Rich and Ninja are absent with respective long term injuries, so Dall continues between the sticks, Aitchison is unavailable due to overseas commitments but Sammy defies the odds by making an early return from injury and Kev Jones makes his YHFC Tuesday debut after a solid display in last Thursday night's Play Footall Ibiza Challenge. Ong also returns after sitting out on Thursday.
Squad. Dall, Carroll, Beattie, Outing, Burnett, Bedingham, Ong, Jones.

All Spectators welcome!

So near and yet so far

The sun set last night on York Hearts' dreams of European qualification, as they bowed out of the PlayFootball Ibiza tournament by the narrowest of margins.
In true Scottish style, the Jambos saw a quarter-final place slip from their grasp, ultimately being knocked out on goal-difference.
Hearts began the 5-a-side contest with a 5-1 victory, but could only draw their second game 0-0. A 6-0 defeat against a team of ex-pros followed, leaving the Jambos needing six points from their last two games to qualify.
A 4-2 win in Match 4 set up a do-or-die final match against Yorkshire Terriers, and with three minutes left Hearts were leading 5-0 and heading for the quarter-finals.
But the Terriers bagged two late consolation goals that meant Hearts missed out on one of the "best-runner-up" spots.
A nasty leg injury to Sam "Kermit" Outing added to the disappointment.
The squad was Aitchison, Dall, Beattie, Carroll, Beddingham, S. Outing, Burnett, Jones.
Burnett won the vote as York Hearts player of the night.

Defeat at the hands of the League Champions

York Hearts FC suffered a 2 -0 defeat last evening in a match which saw Elvington Floorcraft crowned Champions of the Championship. The good news, however, is that York Hearts FC remain in the Championship next season as results elsewhere ensured that relegation would no longer be a concern.
The defeat was no disgrace, as a spirited performance from a pool of 7 players ensured that Elvington had to work hard to ensure the victory. In fact, had it not been for the outstanding performance of their goalkeeper, a victory was within grasp for the battling Jambos.
The loss of a goal early in the second half from a speculative 25 yard drive was enough to put YHFC on the back foot. Goalkeeper Brian "Dallskaleinen" was a touch unfortunate to see the ball land in the net, after the shot, which looked to be going over the bar, dropped into the net after a touch from the keeper which unfortunately took enough pace off the ball to ensure the resulting goal.
From that point onwards YHFC tried to force the pace but were once again caught out at the back when a break from Elvington resulted in the killer second goal. Despite the loss of 2 goals Dallskaleinen was justifiably awarded the Man of the Match.
Onwards and Upwards as they say and with 2 games scheduled for next Tuesday evening YHFC will be looking to bounce back quickly.

Team: Dallskaleinen, Beattie, Carroll, Ong, Burnett, Outing and Aitchison
